Green Onion Cakes


Green onion cakes are a savoury flat bread that are folded and rolled with oil and green onion. No yeast, baking powder or baking soda required.

Ingredients:

3 cups flour
1 1/4 cup hot water
1 bunch of minced green onion
Olive oil
Salt and pepper

Method:

Place flour in large mixing bowl. Add hot water and mix with a fork. Remove from bowl and place on a flat surface. Kneed until a ball if formed.  Let stand covered with plastic wrap for about 30 minutes. Roll out dough into long cylinder, about 2 inches thick. Cut dough into 16 pieces. Roll each piece into a 3 inch round. Brush olive oil, add salt, pepper and about 1 tsp of onion. Roll each round into a cylinder and join ends together. Flatten with rolling pin. Add 1 - 2 tbsp of olive oil in pan. Cook each onion cake for about two minutes on each side.
