Cinnamon Swirl Buns

Cinnamon Swirl Buns are a sweet pastry that are commonly served in North America and Europe. Comparable to the cinnamon bun are the honey buns which I will share in a  future blog post.

This recipe is most like the bakery type, gooey, soft and absolutely delicious!

Ingredients:

Dough:

5 cups of flour
1 cup milk
1/2 cup margarine
1/2 cup brown sugar
4 eggs
1 tbsp Fleischmann's instant yeast
1 tsp salt

Filling:

1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup butter at room temperature
2 tbsp Clubhouse cinnamon

Glaze:

4 tbsp milk
2 tsp vanilla
1 cup Confectioner's sugar

Method:

Warm milk and butter at medium temperature. Add brown sugar, vanilla and salt. In the meantime place half of the flour into a bowl and sprinkle in the instant yeast. Add the milk mixture and beat with the Kitchen Aid mixer. Add remaining flour until dough is formed. Remove from mixture and knead until dough is soft and no longer sticky. Cover dough and let rest for about two hours.

Mix together butter, brown sugar and cinnamon. Sprinkle flour over your work surface, hands and rolling pin. Roll dough into a rectangular shape. Spread cinnamon mixture, leaving an inch or so uncovered along one of the longer sides. Roll and slice into 16 sections. Place each section on their side on a lightly creased cookie sheet. Let dough rest until the rolls have doubled in size

Bake at 350 for 20-25 minutes and let cool for 10 minutes. Mix the glaze and drizzle over the cinnamon swirl buns.

Enjoy!
